Salpo GoldenTache Giveaway – we have a winner!

Remember our GoldenTache £10K Giveaway? If not, here’s a recap – we’re giving away £10K in Salpo professional services to help someone bring their app or custom software idea to life. And we just picked our winner.

After a long and tricky judging process, we finally reached our conclusion. And the winner is [drumroll please]…‘Accountable’ – a real-time carbon accounting app, conceived by Caitlin Brady and Chris Owen. We loved their idea and enthusiasm, and we are tremendously excited to get started on this project.

There were five runners-up, whose ideas we also loved, and we’re exploring the potential of working with them too. We’ll be charting the progress of the winning project, along with any others that result from this giveaway, over the coming months. Follow us on LinkedIn and our other social channels for the latest.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to enter our GoldenTache Giveaway and discuss their ideas via follow-up emails and calls. You all made our decision very tough and we’re sorry we couldn’t pick more winners! Stay tuned for our next giveaway, planned for November 2020.

And if you have an idea but can’t wait until then, do get in touch with us. We’d love to help bring your idea to life. And it may be cheaper than you think. Contact us for a free consultation now.

Salpo launches Cheltenham Festivals prototype visitor app

We just partnered with Cheltenham Festivals to launch a new mobile app, to help visitors navigate The Times and The Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival, from 5-14 October.

This is the official app for the 2018 Festival, guiding visitors through the 10-day, 450 event, 1000 speaker programme, with searchable event and venue details and Festival Village maps.

The Cheltenham Festivals App features:

  • Simple navigation of the full 2018 Festival programme
  • Search for events by day, time, theme or venue
  • Favourite the events you love, to plan your Festival itinerary
  • Check ticket availability and purchase tickets on the go
  • Add events to your calendar, invite friends and get reminders
  • Navigate the Festival Village with interactive Google-overlay Maps

People have long been flocking to the Literature Festival, with a record-breaking 134,000 tickets sold last year. But the world-renowned registered charity, whose year-round participation programme includes the town’s internationally-acclaimed Jazz, Science, Music and Literature Festivals, constantly strives to improve the visitor experience, so engaged the expert help of Salpo Technologies.

Salpo happily obliged, offering free software development services for its local neighbour and registered charity. They built a simple to use but effective iOS and Android app in just four weeks, from concept to delivery.

Salpo Technologies CEO, Paul Lawrence, says: “We are thrilled to have built this app for Cheltenham Festivals, who do such great work to attract visitors and enhance the town’s cultural landscape. We’re proud to have built this simple version from scratch within four weeks, meeting the brief and delivering real value for Festival visitors. We look forward to building on this prototype, harnessing our development capabilities to further enhance the visitor experience.”

Cheltenham Festivals Director of Festivals, Ian George, says: “We are delighted to be working with a Cheltenham-based business on this exciting new digital project.  As a registered charity their support is invaluable to us in helping us to realise our digital ambitions for the future. The App is just one of the ways we are planning to use digital to enhance the Festival experience for our audience.  Through this prototype we will get valuable feedback from festival goers which will inform the Apps future development.”
